Event 8: Constructing a Bankroll

$400 + $50 Deep Stack Double Play NL (2 Re-Entry)

Carpenter Curt, a Cut Above the NC Competition

New housing must be doing well in North Carolina because three guys from a construction company took time off and made the trip from Rocky Mount, NC to play in the Borgata Spring Poker Open.

Curt McCowan says he's the best player in Rocky Mount, which unofficially has at least two dozen players in the area. "It's time to bust onto the seen," says McCowan, a carpenter that builds framing.

McCowan has a colorful personality and played along with the dig at how many Carolina players there really are. "This is my first time at Borgata and I'm loving it," he says while wearing some bling that matches his gold teeth.

"You guys aren't going to get enough of me. I feel like I'm going to win this," he says with unimpeded confidence. McCowan needs to add some stories to his chip stack as he's right at the starting stack of 25k. He's definitely a short stack with 59 players left.

Back on the job site, work is getting done, but you can bet the crew is taking extra long breaks as McCowan brought along the boss.
