Event 11 Recap

$300 + $50 HOSE

"Hollywood" Dave Stann (Hollywood, CA) brought his West Coast game to Atlantic City and was the last man standing to win the HOSE tournament at the Borgata Spring Poker Open. Stann beat John Reiss (Omaha, NE) heads up to win the title.

"After the drama of black Friday, I wanted to leave L.A. and get as far away from it as possible," said the on-line professional, who's not sure how things will play out since the FBI seized the internet poker sites last week.

The penultimate hand of the tournament was the key in the short lived heads-up play. Reiss was kicking himself for not betting the last street with a pair of 7s during the Stud rotation. "If I bet there, I'm not sure you call," Reiss said to Stann after the match.

Stann won that hand with a pair of 9s and said he probably would have made the, "crying call" as he felt the chance to win the tournament there would have been worth the risk. It's a moot point, as one hand later, Stann finished off Reiss with a flush on the river against two pairs.

The HOSErs field of 74 looking for it's piece of the $22,200 total buy-in included Steve "The Wrecking Ball" Fiorentini (Winchester, MA) Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler, WSOP Bracelet holder Chris Reslock (Atlantic City, NJ) and John D'Agostino (Egg Harbor Township, NJ).

Two other notables, Larry Gold (Medford, NY) and Bob "Bullet" DeMartino (Manahawkin, NJ), both failed to cash after finishing 2nd and 6th respectfully in the HOSE event in January during the Winter Poker Open.

"Hollywood" Dave said he loves HORSE and HOSE tournaments and that he'll spend some time on the East Coast visiting folks in Philadelphia, before returning to Borgata to play in the Championship Event (April 24-27).
