Event 16: 12th Place - Cahill

$300 + $50 NL (1 Re-entry)

Patricia Cahill (Port Jefferson Station, NY)
$1,195

Patricia Cahill was a monster after the dinner break and had her opponents on her heels, but her day comes to an end when she called offer stack with A 9 vs Q Q and doesn't hit the ace.

For Cahill her deep run is in honor of her father John Hannon who introduced her to poker before he passed away in 2008 at 89 years old. "He was a real life Archie Bunker," says Cahill, "I really believe playing poker gave him a reason to live and extended his life."

Cahill's father moved in with her family from Florida in 2003 and found a Senior Center that held weekly card games. The two eventually started playing in tournaments together and Cahill saw the passion that her dad had for the game.

"Now I feel his presence when I'm playing," says the Cahill, who's a grandmother. "I sometimes play cards I think he wants me to play."

Cahill didn't get serious about poker until after her father passed and has since taught the game to the rest of the family, including her grandchildren.
